new to Stanford baptist church?

Stanford Baptist Church originated in 1780, when God led Reverand Lewis Craig to start a traveling church, and God led them straight to Kentucky. On their way to Lancaster, KY, they stopped at Gilberts Creek, where they established their home base, and from that home base, the ministry reached Stanford, KY.

With God working through this ministry, on November 20, 1852, a group of Baptists in and around Stanford met in a Church on Depot Street to organize Stanford Baptist Church. In December of 1856, the Church voted to erect a Church house, which the Church completed on August 13, 1859. On February 8, 1862, Due to the great world Cholera (Kaa-lr-a) Pandemic, our Church opened our Church to those churches that had been taken for military hospitals. In March 1868, we founded the "First Baptist Church" in Stanford, Ky. In March 1892, we founded "Logans Creek Mission", now "Blue Lick Baptist Church." After the decision to tear down the church sanctuary and build a larger one, On August 16, 1970, Stanford Baptist opened the new sanctuary, which is our sanctuary now.

We believe that Stanford Baptist is in a season of revival, and we are passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Though it seems so many are falling away from the Church, Stanford Baptist strives to be obedient and passionate about sharing God's Word. Since October 2022, SBC has seen a 70% increase in attendance, which one could only imagine is that SBC is one of the fastest-growing churches in this region.

Steve Dismuke

Lead Pastor

God inspired Pastor Steve Dismuke to come to Stanford Baptist Church in 2022. Pastor Steve did not take this lightly; he wanted to be in God's will for his journey and the Church's.

Pastor Steve was born close to Los Angeles, CA.  He accepted Christ at age 7 while visiting his grandparents in Carp, Indiana. He moved to Kentucky at the age of 7, where he stayed until he graduated in 1990. He joined the Army in Feb of 1992 until he retired as a First Sergeant after 24 years. During his time in the military, he served in many different locations and received an award for having the nation's #1 training site. While in the service, he preached to thousands of soldiers and led many to Christ. He has received too many certifications to list, but a few of them are for Suicide Awareness, Resiliency, and Sexual Assault/Harassment prevention. He graduated from Hocking College with an associate's degree in business and a Bachelor's degree in General Education from Eastern Kentucky University, Summa Cum Laude. He furthered his education at Liberty University Rawlings Seminary where he received his Masters in Theology while being on the Dean's list, Summa Cum Laude.  Pastor Steve has been in ministry for over 16 years as a Chaplain and children's, youth, and family Pastor. He has served as the First Priority Heritage Director for three years. Training, mentoring, and leading hundreds of students to proclaim Jesus Christ on the school campus. He is on the board with Haven Care, First Priority, and Fort Logan Food Ministries. He has had a crucial role in different crusades, orchestrated many significant revival events, and mentored hundreds of people to evangelize the gospel of Jesus.

Pastor Steve's core beliefs are with the Baptist Church Denomination, believing the bible is 100% inerrant; he believes in the Trinity, and that Jesus is the Messiah born of a virgin. He believes in the Baptist Faith and message of 2000 and believes the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still possible. He believes that one must repent of their sins, confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead; then they too can be saved. He believes that once one repents and confesses, they need to be baptized. Not that baptism saves a person, but it is a requirement from God after one's confession.

Pastor Steve invites you to join our church family, where iron sharpens iron. He is adamant that you be the best Christ-filled version of yourself that you can be. He believes the Church is a place where we come in broke and leave renewed. His driving motivator is to Love God, Love People, and Serve together.
